On Monday, the museum unveils “Vision of Zacharias in the Temple” after two years of close study. Experts used high-tech scans and compared pigments and paint layers with other Rembrandt works. They also dated the wood panel to before 1633, the year on the painting. A private collector bought it in 1961, and it has stayed out of view for decades. The owner, who has remained anonymous, initially asked the museum only if the painting was Dutch.

The documents include the 1783 Treaty of Paris that formally ended the Revolutionary War and the 1774 Articles of Association that urged colonists to boycott British goods. They are rarely moved from their home at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., but will begin an eight-city tour on Monday. The first stop will be at the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri. Judge nixes latest policy requiring 7 days’ notice for Congress members to visit ICE facilities

A judge is temporarily suspending the latest version of a Trump administration policy that requires members of Congress to provide a week’s notice before they can visit immigration detention facilities. U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb in Washington ruled Monday a group of Democratic lawmakers is likely to succeed in showing the seven-day notice requirement is illegal. Thirteen House members sued to challenge the Jan. 8 policy issued by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The judge says the Republican administration hasn’t cited any “concrete examples of safety issues posed by congressional visits without advanced notice.” Noem secretly reinstated a notice requirement one day after an immigration officer shot and killed a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis.

Framber Valdez struck out three while throwing 30 of 43 pitches for strikes in the left-hander’s spring training debut for the Detroit Tigers. Valdez faced 12 batters in three scoreless innings Monday against Atlanta. The 32-year-old Valdez allowed two singles without any walks. The hits against him were a slow infield roller to third base and a grounder through the right side of the infield. Valdez, a two-time All-Star and 2022 World Series champion with Houston, signed a $115 million, three-year contract with the Tigers last month.
