Families Get Free DNA Kits for Their Kids at Mugs and Hugs

Around 1,400 Kids Received the Kits

DULUTH, Minn.- Families received Free DNA kits for children, to track the kids if they ever go missing at an event in Duluth, Mugs and Hugs.

The Masonic Lodges in Duluth gave out the kits to around 1,400 kids at the Wade Stadium. The Kits include a DNA Swab and an Amber Alert Ready DVD that can be taken to law enforcement if a child goes missing. The kids who attended also received mugs with root beer floats, as an incentive to come to the event.

“The goal of the Masonic Lodge is, we’d like to get a kids ID for every kid out there because it’s becoming so crucial, if you have this we can get you onto the amber alert within minutes instead of in hours, and those first hours of the important ones,” said Jeffery Vollman, the Program Coordinator for Mugs and Hugs.

Many Mugs and Hugs events have taken place in the Northland, and this was the last one of the year.
