Woman Stabbed In Hibbing After ‘Domestic Dispute’

Domestic Assault, according to the Hibbing Police Department.

According to the criminal complaint, Johnson stabbed the female victim, identified as his wife, in the eye with a serrated kitchen knife, as she was attempting to retrieve some of her belongings. The complaint also states that the two admitted to being separated at the time.

When officers arrived on scene around 12:20 a.m., they found every item of furniture in the living room moved or over-turned, the complaint went on with several accounts of the victims and a juvenile witness, who confirmed that Johnson had done this.

Officers also noted there was blood and a kitchen steak knife covered in blood on the carpeted area just before the kitchen.

The complaint states that officers spent over 30 minutes attempting to enter the bedroom, where Johnson had barricaded himself. As officers encouraged him to exit the room, Johnson stated that he did not believe that the victim was going to be okay as, “I stabbed her in the optical nerve behind her eye, she will never see again.” Johnson also admitted to hurting himself and later slid a knife covered in blood under the door, according to the complaint.

Finally at 12:55 a.m., Johnson allowed law enforcement in the bedroom. He as transported to University Medical Center Mesabi and later booked into St. Louis County Jail.

His bail is listed at $1,000,000.

HIBBING, Minn. – A Hibbing man is behind bars accused of stabbing a female during a “domestic dispute,” according to the Hibbing Police Department.

The call for help came in around 11:40 Friday night at a residence on the 2200 block of First Avenue.

Investigators eventually arrested the suspect who they say appeared to have self-inflicted knife wounds.

The victim was hospitalized. Her condition was not known Sunday.

The suspect was also hospitalized with Hibbing police officers on guard there.

Formal charges are pending.
