29-year-old North Branch man killed in snowmobile crash

One person is dead following a snowmobile crash in northern Minnesota.

According to authorities, the crash happened just after 10 p.m. on March 5 along the Arrowhead Trail, about 25 miles north of Orr.

First responders and law enforcement were called to the area after receiving a report of a single-vehicle snowmobile crash. The person who called said a friend they had been riding with became separated from the group.

About an hour later, crews located the rider — a 29-year-old man from North Branch — near his snowmobile. He was found dead at the scene.

Investigators say it appears the rider failed to navigate a 90-degree corner and crashed into a tree. He was the only person involved in the crash.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name.

The crash remains under investigation.
