Shelter in place order issued for parts of Ashland, school bus routes affected

The Ashland Police Department released more information on what they say happened. They were dispatched to the area following the report of physical disturbance.
Officers were advised that the victim was able to leave the residence but the suspect was still in the residence alone and believed to be in possession of a shotgun.
Officers say they learned that suspect had assaulted the victim prior to officer’s arrival as well as on numerous occasions over the past few days. They believed he was in possession of a short-barreled shotgun and the suspect had shot into the wall inside the residence with the victim present.
The suspect barricaded themselves inside the residence. The suspect is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Ashland County Jail for charges of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, possession of a short-barreled shotgun, recklessly endangering safety and domestic battery.
ASHLAND, Wis. — The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order Wednesday afternoon following an active police situation.
At 4:15 p.m., the order was terminated.
According to officials, everyone in the 400 block of 12th Ave E and 13th Ave East was part of the order.
Police said there was a barricaded person in that area.
The School District of Ashland additionally changed bus routes to those in the closed area.
There were no immediately reports of injuries.
