Nurses lead Nightingale Walk honoring Alex Pretti
DULUTH, Minn. — People gathered downtown Duluth for the Nightingale Walk honoring the life of ICU Nurse Alex Pretti.
The candlelight vigil was organized by two local nurses. A brief ceremony was held by the Nurse Honor Guard before everyone began the walk along the lake. Participants carried candles during the walk as a symbol of remembrance, grief, and solidarity. The nurses say the vigil was open to the entire community, while holding a special space for nurses and health care workers to mourn one of their own.
“To be here together with nurses of all generations. We had retired nurses leading the honor guard,” said Meagan, a local nurse. “We had fresh, graduated nurses. We had nurses of every stage in every unit, and we’re all here together, honoring him. And I think that was really beautiful.”
After walking along the lakewalk, the vigil wrapped up with a small concert.
