MINNESOTA – Senator Tina Smith has endorsed Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan to replace her in the United States Senate.

Lt. Gov. Flanagan is in a battle for the Democratic nomination for the seat against Congresswoman Angie Craig.

The primary election will be on August 11, 2026.

They made the announcement in a news release and a YouTube video.

Senator Smith said, “We need leaders who have the courage to take bold action, challenge the status quo and fight for people, so they can be safe and afford their lives. That’s why I’m endorsing my friend Peggy Flanagan for United States Senate. Peggy has delivered for Minnesota, and she’s always stood strong for all of us. I’m proud to endorse Peggy and am ready to work as hard as I can to make sure Minnesota sends another progressive fighter to the U.S. Senate.”

Former Senator Al Franken also endorsed Flanagan for the seat that he previously held.

Craig and Flanagan are the two leading Democrats vying for the seat.

Leading Republicans include Michele Tafoya, Royce White, and David Hann.
