Sister Charged in Stabbing at Gary New Duluth Residence, Police
DULUTH, Minn. – A woman was stabbed twice in the neck by her sister during an argument Monday morning, Duluth Police allege.
Charges have been filed against 19-year-old Nyeima Leerose Saice after she allegedly stabbed her sister in the neck during an argument.
Around 2:46 a.m. on Monday, Duluth Police received a call that claimed a female had been stabbed by another female. Officers arrived at the family residence on the 1200 block of 98th Ave W in Gary-New Duluth to find a roughly 20-year-old female bleeding from her neck. According to police, the victim was transported to Essentia Hospital for her injuries.
Police spoke with the owner of the home, who said the two involved females were sisters and the owner identified herself as their mother. Officers identified the suspect as Nyeima Saice. The sisters had allegedly “been fighting while they were out of the house earlier that night and continued to argue when they returned home.”
According to the mother, she “heard a physical altercation occurring in the bedroom in the basement” and when she checked on the noise, she saw a male, identified as the second victim, attempting to pull Saice off the first victim. The mother “saw a significant amount of blood coming from the side of” the victim, before Saice fled the home.
The second victim told police he was with the first victim in the basement bedroom, prior to the stabbing. He alleged that when Saice came into the room with the “kitchen knife with a black handle” she attempted to stab him in the stomach; however, she missed and stabbed the first victim in the neck.
A police report for the incident said that Saice returned to the scene and spoke to investigators. According to Saice’s statements, she had been arguing with the male victim prior to the alleged stabbing and that she “was trying to leave her mother’s home, but that the victims kept verbally arguing with her so she could not leave.” She admitted to having a knife in her hand during the argument but was using it to cut tags off clothing.
According to the police report, Saice said, “I think I stabbed her, I didn’t mean to.” Saice stated that her sister was attempting to get in between her and the male victim. “My sister got in between it, and I think I stabbed her,” Saice said. She added her intent was to make the male victim go away.
Saice was taken into custody, and is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on $25,000 bond.
