First Saltie Arrives in Twin Ports

The Lakers have been coming in and out of the twin ports for a few weeks, but the first oceangoing vessel sailed into the port of Duluth and Superior on Sunday.

The Albanyborg flies the flag of the Netherlands. The ship is part of the royal Wagenborg fleet, and has 12 members on board.

The Duluth Port Authority representatives say each year, ship lovers are excited to watch the first saltie arrive, and the twin ports play a big role as the region’s gateway for global commerce

If everything goes as planned, the departure of the ship is scheduled for late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
