Duluth Depot Begins Annual Haunted History Tours
DULUTH, Minn.– For over four years now, this sell out tour has been telling stories that are both unique, and scary. And from the sounds of it, people just can’t seem to get enough.
“In October we run our haunted history tours. Which, it’s part paranormal investigation. And part history tour. Also, we talk about the legends and the folklore of the building as well that’s related to the things that go bump in the night,” said Hailey Eidenschink, the Cultural Coordinator at the St. Louis County Depot.
The tour takes place in the old 1800s building
Where the floors, and handrails remain the same. That being said, there was a time where these tours were in jeopardy.
“It was saved from demolition by involved citizens here in our region. So, it’s only standing here because of community interest and action,” said Eidenschink.
Alongside that, alleged ghosts and other paranormal activity also stuck around.
“I’m interested in it… and I’m freaked out by it. But it’s kind of compelling,” said Eidenschink.
With the community coming together, they realized there were a lot more stories to tell with the Depot standing.
“We get to talk about some of the experiences that employees and former employees have shared with me There’s a couple photos that I pull out as part of that, there’s some pretty spooky stuff,” mentioned Eidenschink.
And for those a little nervous to attend, there’s nothing to be scared of… for the most part.
“There are some elements in the tour that can kind of be spooky scary. If we’re like downstairs and we hear a loud, clunk! When we have all the lights off. That’s scary. You don’t have to worry about being scared like that because I will be scared and make a fool of myself worse than anyone could,” laughed Eidenschink.
