Duluth Murder Suspect Arrested Again In Superior

A man who Duluth police say is behind a homicide and arson investigation is back under arrest for a different crime.

Superior police say they arrested Tyler Edwards, 25, of Illinois, around 10 p.m. on Sept. 5 while officers were responding to a call about a man trying to break into somebody’s home.

After a foot chase with Edwards, police said he matched the description of the break-in suspect.

The arrest came on the same day Edwards was released from the St. Louis County Jail after being arrested by Duluth police for preliminary charges of murder, arson and assault with a dangerous weapon.

That victim is Maxton Gudowski, 25, of Duluth who was found dead after the fire in his apartment in Lakeside.

Edwards was released from custody because formal charges by the St. Louis County Attorney’s office had not been filed 36 hours after his arrest.

Prosecutor Nate Stumme told FOX 21 on Monday that his office is continuing to investigate while waiting on critical pieces of evident before possibly filing formal charges against Edwards.

Edwards was convicted earlier this year of a sexual assault out of Hennepin County Minnesota.

One day after his arrest in Superior, a judge put out a warrant for his arrest for violating his probation in that case.

Edwards remained in the Douglas County Jail Monday night.
