Waterline Burst in St. Louis River Near Clough Island Under Control
A 36-inch geyser is now under control in the St. Louis River after a waterline burst down below near Clough Island on Tuesday.
The City of Cloquet says the 20-mile pipeline supplies water from Lake Superior to the Sappi plant in Cloquet.
Pumping operations have since shut down. Officials tell us the hole appears to be the result of hardware deterioration at a mechanical fitting.
Further evaluation is underway.
