The retired University of Minnesota professor just published a memoir
A Holocaust survivor was on the UMD campus Thursday night, speaking to a packed room about his recently published memoir.
Fred Amram, a retired professor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities read excerpts from his book, “We’re in America Now: A Survivor’s Story.”
The memoir paints the picture of Amram’s life as a Jewish child during the height of Nazi Germany, and eventual flee to New York City.
“There are a lot of survivors who won’t talk about their experiences. There are a lot of veterans who won’t tell their experiences. I’m not one of those,” said Amram.
Today marks the 78th anniversary of Kristallnacht, where more than 30,000 Jews were sent to concentration camps.
