1 Of 3 Suspects Charged In Eveleth Kidnapping, Sexual Assault

EVELETH, Minn. — An Eveleth man with alleged connections to the Hells Angels has been charged with beating up and kidnapping another man, and sexually assaulting a woman.

A criminal complaint says he is one of three men in custody who have connections with the motorcycle group.

Charges against Paul Anthony Debelak include kidnapping to commit bodily harm, criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, and false imprisonment.

The complaint says Debelak is a Hells Angels prospect.

The complaint says it started when the president of the Iron Range Hells Angels told another man and woman they could not see each other.

When the Hells Angel leader found the two together, the complaint says he and others beat up the victim. It says Debelak and another man sexually assaulted the woman in the bathroom, where she at one point blacked out.

During the police investigation, authorities searched the Hells Angels Clubhouse in Eveleth where the male victim was taken for more beatings.

The president of the Hells Angles allegedly told the victim not to leave, but he managed to escape the following day on crutches, and make it to police headquarters.

While Debelak has been charged, two others remain in custody.
