Structure Fire Destroys Home in Grand Lake Township

Grand Lake Township — A house is a total loss and one dog has died after fire broke out Monday in Grand Lake Township.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around 8:00 pm on the 5900 block of Sunny Lane.

A FOX21 reporter happened to be in the area at the time of the fire. She spoke to responders and family members on scene.

They confirmed an elderly woman and three dogs lived in the home. One dog did not survive the fire.

The Sheriff’s Office reported, the fire is believed to have been caused by a space heater in a bathroom.

The house has been deemed a total loss. No foul play is suspected.
