Longtime surgeon Dr. Wendell Smith announces run for 8th Congressional District
DULUTH, Minn. — Longtime general surgeon, Dr. Wendell Smith, has announced his candidacy for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District.
Dr. Smith has been a Minnesota resident for 24 years.
He is a general surgeon, working at Essentia Health for 16 years and Fairview Range for six years.
He announced his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District, which is currently held by Representative Pete Stauber, who is running for re-election.
Dr. Smith will seek the DFL nomination in the August primary.
His campaign will focus on health care cuts, accessible and affordable education, and supporting workers rights.
