Hibbing/Chisholm Tops Mahtomedi to Advance to First State Title Game Since 1994
Hibbing/Chisholm will face Warroad in the title game on Saturday.
ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Hibbing/Chisholm boys hockey team is one step closer to their first state title since 1973.
On Friday, the Bluejackets defeated the Mahotmedi Zephyrs, 4 to 2 in the Class A semifinals.
Hibbing/Chisholm didn’t waste any time as Jackson Strukel found the back of the net just 17 seconds into the game.
Then in the 2nd period, the Bluejackets scored two more goals in the first 13 minutes of the period. Ben Galli had a power play goal and Cole Swanson scored the other.
Lastly in the 3rd, Whitaker Rewertz gave Hibbing/Chisholm a three-goal advantage as the Bluejackets rode to the 4-2 victory.
The Bluejackets last made a state title game appearance in 1994.
