Second Harvest Northland celebrates a successful 2025

DULUTH, Minn.– Second Harvest Northland in Duluth is calling the previous year a success, despite roadblocks such as program cuts, and snap benefit pauses.

Shaye Morris, the CEO of Second Harvest Northland said, 11 million meals were distributed across the 15-county region.

Morris said, this year brought along challenges with economic uncertainty.

Factors such as the government shut down did affect operations, but the food shelf powered through, despite the odds not necessarily in their favor.

“In times of crisis, we see this region come together. You know, whether it’s food donors or financial donors or volunteers, they really want to help support neighbors in our communities. So, to know that we were facing so much and yet we were able to distribute 11 million meals is pretty incredible,” said Morris.

Second Harvest Northland distributes meals to a region that spans 27,000 square miles.
