Duluth Marshall Boys Hockey Continues to Build Positive Momentum as Regular Season Winds Down

Hilltoppers are 16-3-2 on the season.

DULUTH, Minn.- The Duluth Marshall boys hockey has been able to hang with the top teams in section 7A and 7AA this season.

The Hilltoppers have surpassed their win total from a year ago, currently sitting at 16-3-and-2.

Now, the Hilltoppers have four regular season games left, with three of them slated to be played on the road.

The key to the Hilltoppers success this season is their strong core of upperclassmen that have varsity experience.

In total, 11 juniors and 8 seniors have skated for Marshall.

Now that the regular season is winding down, the Hilltoppers want to continue to keep stacking positive days before the postseason.

“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish and where you’re at. It’s where you’re at when it comes playoff time and like I said, it’s one day at a time,” said Hilltoppers head coach Shawn Bartlette. “Figuring out our strengths, preparing our game plan for that and then continuing to grow in the areas where we’re struggling a little bit.”

The Hilltoppers understand that when the section tournament rolls around and the season becomes win or go home, the whole team will have to focus on all phases of the game to make a run at the big dance.

“I think it’s just treating every practice and game like it’s playoff hockey. Playing the right way, doing the simple and the little things right, so that’s kind of what we are focusing on. We are at our best when we are just playing to our game. Our team has a lot of skill, so just when we’re all playing together and playing the right way,” said Hilltoppers forward Bennett

“We’ve been doing a good job of taking one game at a time focusing on the task at hand and winning that day,” said

The Hilltoppers next game is on Tuesday against the Proctor Rails.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
