Crews battle large fire at Clinton Township recycling plant

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Minn. — A large fire at a recycling facility in Clinton Township has been contained.

Officials say reports came in at 10:40 a.m. of a car on fire at Holmes Recycling on State Highway 37.

Upon arrival, crews found that a car was being compacted, which caused an explosion. 

Officials believe the battery inside the car may have caused the explosion.

As of this time, Southbound County Highway 7 is closed.

No injuries have been reported, and the case remains under investigation.
