Friday Evening Northland Forecast: 4/4/2025

A Calm and Quiet Weekend

Remember Wednesday? Winds off Lake Superior gusting to 40mph, six inches or more of wet snow, and terrible roads. Here we are, two days later, the roads are fine, the snow is melting, and the winds have shifted to the NW at only 10-15mph. We deserve a quiet, calm weekend, with no watches or warnings. No travel advisories and blizzards. Just some party sunny conditions, with light winds and highs around normal (which is 44 today). And, that’s exactly what’s on the way!

It’s not that we can’t get snow in April and May. We certainly can. I’ve seen and shoveled it! This week, an old-timer told me he’s seen snow in Duluth in July. Well, I can’t prove or disprove that. But, in the Northland, you can never say never!

Fortunately, this coming week looks easy, and quiet, and near average. We will be around 40 for a high both days this weekend. Then, after a quick cooldown on Monday, we will head up to the 50’s for the rest of the week. I think we’ve earned some nice weather like that. Our next chance for precipitation will be on Thursday, when there’s a chance for rain. That’s ok, we’ll take the moisture. Looking ahead 10 days, I don’t see anything that could be called a ‘big deal’ in the world of weather. Just partly cloudy, partly sunny, and highs near normal. I will take that, all day. Have a great weekend!
