UW-Superior Hosts Veterans Day Observance

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Veteran’s Day commemorations across the Northland included one at UW-Superior.

The event, taking place at the Yellowjacket Union, featured a presentation of colors, the National Anthem, and remarks from a UW-Superior graduate.

The ceremony also included a presentation of the Henry Blomberg Excellence in Service Awards.  The awards are named for Lieutenant Henry Blomberg, a Superior native who was honored for his bravery during World War I.

“I think the biggest thing you can do to thank them is think of all the freedoms that you have,” says Gabriel Sexton, Veterans and Nontraditional Student Center Coordinator at UWS, “that we get to enjoy that are here because of them, because of what they fought for and what they did. And that goes for throughout time.”

The day’s activities were free and open to the public.
