Thursday Morning Northland Forecast: 10-10-2024
A Warm and Sunny Thursday
Hurricane Milton made landfall on the west coast of Florida about 8:30 pm local time, last night as a Category 3 hurricane, with top winds of about 155 mph. It had a storm surge of 8-12 feet, and dumped up to 16″ of rain on St. Petersburg. It moved NE, across Florida overnight, and is now well east of Florida, over the Atlantic. Now, the massive clean-up starts. More than 3 million people are without power, but at least Milton is now in the past.
Fortunately, we are blessed with delightful weather in the Northland today! We are looking for mostly sunny skies, SW winds 10-20 mph, and highs in the low to mid 70s. Don’t get used to this, as it’s a 1-day fling with summer conditions, but it will sure be nice while it lasts! On Friday, we will cool down to the mid 60s, under partly sunny skies, and NW winds 10-25 mph. It will feel quite raw compared to today. Over the weekend, we will have highs in the 50s, with a chance for light rain overnight Saturday, into Sunday morning. Monday will feel surprisingly cool, as our high temp will only be about 50. The average high for today is 56 degrees. We will warm back to about 60 for a high on Wednesday, with sunny skies.
You can tell fall is settling in, with the later sunrises, and earlier sunsets. It’s just a matter of time before we look for our first flurries of the season. But, not today!
