Longtime UMD Men’s Hockey Coach Mike Sertich Passes Away

Sertich led the Bulldogs from 1982 to 2000.

DULUTH, Minn.- Legendary UMD men’s head hockey coach Mike Sertich passed away at the age of 77 on Thursday.

Sertich led the Bulldogs from 1982 to 2000, guiding the team to three WCHA regular season titles, two league playoff titles, and four NCAA tournament berths.

He also was named WCHA Coach of the Year four times and was the first to win the award three times in a row.

Sertich played his college hockey at UMD, lettering from 1966 to 1969.
