Authorities said he used Adobe Photoshop to morph child pornography that he found online with other non-explicit images of minors. Authorities believe that process involved images of his own genitalia.

The investigation started in 2022 after tips were submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Of the 18,000 items, authorities said 790 images and 34 videos were identified as known victims as young as eight years old.

Degelau is also charged in Minnesota state court involving this case.
