Essentia Health Welcomes Twins as First “First Babies” in New Medical Center

DULUTH, Minn. — Essentia health-St. Mary’s Medical Center welcomed a set of twins for the first born in 2024.

Elle Ustipak and Jason Traver of Duluth welcomed Addison Evonne Traver at 11:22 a.m. Addison’s twin sister, Brinley Eve Traver, arrived shortly after. Addison weighed 5 pounds, 4.3 ounces, while Brinley weighed at 4 pounds, 3.7 ounces.

The twins became the first “first babies of the year” born at the new St. Mary’s Medical Center, which opened in late July 2023. 

According to the parents in a press release from Essentia, twins aren’t typical in their family.

About 1,500 births occurred at St. Mary’s in 2023.
