Mother and Boyfriend Charged in Blaine Toddler’s Death
Mother's bail is set at $1 million
Authorities have filed charges against the mother of a Blaine toddler who died, and her boyfriend.
Anoka County Attorney, Tony Palumbo says, 26-year-old Heidi Aguilera-Bustillo is charged with second-degree manslaughter, aiding an offender, and child endangerment.
Her boyfriend, 24-year-old, Nelson Soto-Lopez is charged with second-degree murder. Soto-Lopez was also involved with the kidnapping of Aguilera-Bustillo’s 5-year-old daughter. He and the girl were located in Missouri Wednesday; Soto-Lopez was immediately taken into custody.
It wasn’t clear if either suspect has an attorney at this time, according to The Associated Press. Aguilera-Bustillo appeared in court Thursday, but did not enter a plea. Her bail has been set at $1 million.
Blaine Police were called to a local hospital Tuesday morning for a report of an unconscious 21-month-old boy. The toddler later died at the scene from injuries that authorities say were consistent with an assault.
Aguilera-Bustillo was taken into custody on Tuesday following the incident.
