Former Duluth Firefighter Pleads Guilty in Child Sex Case

A former Duluth firefighter accused of multiple sex crimes against a child has pleaded guilty to state charges.

34-year-old Caleb Lofald entered the plea Wednesday to charges of Interference with Privacy against a Minor under 18 and a gross misdemeanor of Interference with Privacy.

In November of 2014, investigators executed a search warrant at Lofald’s home and workplace, Duluth Fire Hall 7.

During their search, they found eleven images of a naked 4-month-old baby girl, focusing on her genitals.  Some of the photos show a hand touching the infant’s genitalia.

Investigators also recovered video, allegedly recorded in Lofald’s home using a hidden camera, of a 6-year-old boy and a woman changing their clothes.

In August, Lofald pleaded guilty to federal charges of producing child pornography.

He was sentenced to 17 and a half years behind bars.

He will be sentenced for the state charges on Friday.
