Superior Holds Garbage Fee Meeting
A new garbage fee is on in Superior and the first quarterly bill will arrive in mailboxes this April.
Monday night, Chris Bronson, the city’s assistant financial director, held a garbage fee informational meeting at the public library.
Bronson believes the $7.75 monthly charges per unit is the “cheapest” in the Northland and necessary to pay for the rising expenses that come with the landfill.
“Nobody wants another fee. Ya know, I don’t want to pay the garbage fee. But it really is necessary to keep our landfill sustainable,” said Chris Bronson, assistant financial director with the city of Superior.
Duluth has historically helped keep the landfill profitable, as it pays Superior to take its garbage.
However, more people are recycling, which means less waste coming over the bridge to Superior.
