‘Iceman’ Calls Recent Warm-Up ‘Deja Vu’
Creator Feels Structure Could Collapse
An outdoor attraction in Superior is a little on edge and possibly ready to crumble after recent 40-degree weather.
“Ice Man Roger,” as he is known, said that warm-up really crushed his chances of building the tallest ice sculpture in the world – for the second year in a row.
“It’s kind of like Deja vu all over again. This is the same time last year where we had a period of really warm weather,” Roger Hanson said.
Hanson said Monday the structure on Barker’s Island could collapse if it gets really cold because the 40-degree warmth most likely ate at the core of the structure.
By the way, local businesses and the city of Superior’s tourist development fund are supporting the $40,000 project – not tax payer dollars.
