A Duluth Drug Bust Involves Gang Members
A Duluth heroin and methamphetamine ring is off the streets thanks to a drug bust by local enforcement.
Duluth police considered this bust to be a significant victory for the department.
Four out of the eight arrested in this drug bust are confirmed gang members and have a direct connection to the Gang Of Disciples and more specifically with the very violent Lafa street gang out of Chicago.
Commander of the Lake Superior Drugs and Violent Crimes Task Force, Lieutenant Jeffrey Kazel made statements on the recent arrest.”The Lafa gang is a documented violent gang from Jeffrey Manor neighborhood in Chicago. The Lafa gang members conduct many of the same criminal activity as typical Chicago area street gangs. To including trafficking firearms and narcotics but what separates this Lafa gang is there propensity for violence.”
The police made the arrest and have taken the eight ring members into custody. Unfortunately police say our area is an ideal harbor for drug traffickers because of the economic appeal.
The Duluth Police Department is reaching out to community members and asking for help with their crack down on drugs in the area.
The problem expands outside of Duluth and is being felt through out the country.
If you do see something suspicious make sure to say something.
