Area students are taking a stand against youth homelessness in our community, by sleeping in cardboard boxes.
Friday evening Duluth East High School Key Club Members slept in boxes at the high school stadium.
The annual program raises funds for Duluth’s Life House, which helps homeless youth.
Last year, 80 students took part and raised $2,000-dollars.
“It’s a really good thing for us to come out here and raise awareness about the issue because I know when I’m in class I don’t always think about the fact that the person sitting next to me might not have a place to go after school and might be doing exactly what we are doing tonight, every night,” said Camp in a Box Participant Lacey Robertson.
The funds will allow Life House to buy house warming kits that include new linens, towels and other items to give to former homeless youth when they find housing.
