Ely Sees 10 Percent Increase in Tourism This Season

The City of Ely is seeing a booming tourism season.

The Ely Chamber of Commerce said it saw a 10 percent increase in tourism as of July.

Chamber executive director Cherie Sonsalla said the weather was a major factor along with a strong economy.

“The way that it’s been going lately, that people feel comfortable taking their vacations again,” said Sonsalla.

The city will host its annual Harvest Moon Festival this weekend.
