A statue honoring former Vietnam P.O.W Commander David Wheat was officially unveiled in a public ceremony Friday.
Hundreds of people gathered together to see the statue and pay their respect to Commander Wheat and his military service.
Wheat was an ensign serving as a navigator when the plane he was in was shot down over North Vietnam.
Wheat spent the next 7 years and 4 months, in various prison camps throughout Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
The statue dedicated to Wheat on Friday will be displayed at the Duluth International Airport indefinitely.
