Two local businesses helped raise $65,000 dollars for the Duluth Traverse Trail Project.
Loll Designs and the Minnesota Power Foundation donated the money to help continued efforts on the trail.
Members of the project say they are looking forward to getting more trail on the ground and this was one more step to finishing the 100 mile multi-use trail.
Only 54 miles has been completed.
Representative from Loll are thrilled to be able to play a part in improving the community.
“It’s a treat really. The fact that we have that built into our businesses model and the fact that we are able to do that. This is our second year giving to COGGS and it just feels good,” said Co-owner, Greg Benson.
Benson also says the trail will not only benefit Duluthians but will be a great addition for those visiting during the tourist months.
“To use these trails and spend money here, use hotels, go to the restaurants and find out what a great community we have,” Benson said.
The Duluth Traverse Gala will be held March 7th.
It’s COGG’s annual fundraiser with proceeds going toward constructing the trail.
COGGS is projected to raise more than $100K with the combination of these donations and proceeds from the Gala.
